Why should I join the ACT Playgroups Association?

Membership of the ACT Playgroups Association provides the following members' benefits:

Insurance

Having current financial membership of ACT Playgroups, provides insurance cover for playgroup meetings either at your venue or on excursions.

Access to Development and Support Staff 

Our trained Development and Support staff are available to answer your questions and offer assistance with playgroup issues and advice, or to simply share a play dough recipe.

Playdates

Our Development and Support staff will be running playdates at various venues for one week in each term. Members can attend different sessions including Music, Physical, Messy and  Baby play. Each session will have a story time element and would be a great opportunity to experience some FUN play activities that can be easily copied at playgroup or at home. Hire

For a small hire fee and refundable deposit you can hire our Santa suit or raise money by making key rings, magnets or badges with the hire of our machine.

Laminating, Faxing, Photocopying

For a small fee our office can assist you with your laminating, photocopying and faxing. Click here for more information.

Totline

Our newsletter is packed with playgroup and parenting information, upcoming events, competitions, reviews and more. It is sent directly to members three times a year.

Playgroup Postings

Our monthly mail out is sent to contacts with lots of useful information. The bulletin contains activity suggestions, event dates and much more. You can see a copy of the latest Playgroup Postings on our website here.

Australian Baby Card

Our members receive a discount card free when joining the playgroup association. This card is valued at $30.00 and entitles the bearer to a wide range of discounts on products and services. To see which retailers are offering discounts go to the Australian Baby Card website here.

Events

ACT Playgroups stages three (3) main events throughout the year (at minimal or no cost to members). These are:

  • Playgroup Games  - Held during National Playgroup week. This fun event provides, educationally based activities for children aged birth to five using homemade equipment to enhance your child’s physical development.
  • Playgroup Expo - Held on the Tuesday of Children’s Week in October each year provides community based information and support services with lots of free children’s activities and entertainment.
  • Christmas in the Park in December is a chance to bring your playgroup along for some FUN Christmas crafts and activities. You will have an opportunity to meet Santa and enjoy the Christmas Season.

Toy Library

Our toy library provides kits for playgroups and playgroup members. All kits are developmentally appropriate. Our kits are organised around different themes or age ranges, these include, among others: babies 0-6 months, babies 6-12 months, music, transport, home, science or physical play. Kits are subject to a refundable deposit and a small hire fee. Kits are borrowed at the beginning of each term and returned in week nine. Deposits can be held over or returned when the kit is returned, providing they are returned clean and in good working order without missing items. Please contact our office for more information.
